“Code Monkey Save World” #1 cover – let me know how it looks!

code-monkey-01-cover-700

Hey, friends. I’m about to send Monkeybrain the cover to the first issue of  “Code Monkey Save World.” See above for what it looks like at the moment.

It’s gorgeously illustrated by Takeshi Miyazawa and colored by Jessica Kholinne. But I figured I’d use the internet hive mind to make sure I’m not missing something here with the logos and trade dress — please let me know if it looks all right to you!

UPDATE: Okay, based on some feedback on the Twitter, I tried alleviating some of the heavy action on the left column by moving the Monkeybrain logo to the bottom right. What say youse?

I have disliked the “meme font” (I have no idea what it’s actually called) since the project’s conception – I think it makes it look cheap. I would absolutely love a custom title – one that is exclusive to the comic, to make it look a little more professional and higher quality.

    Love the artwork, though!

Font’s just the standard Impact font found everywhere, done in white with a black outline.

Thanks for that! But yeah, I’m sticking with Impact — we chose it consciously because of the “I CAN HAZ CHEESEBURGER” meme nature of it, given our internet-friendly animal character and all. 😉

I dig it! I got the reference as soon as I saw it. 😀

It looks fine the way it is. If you want one more pointless viewpoint to consider, here it is. 🙂

I would fill the relatively “empty” spaces with badges because I want to see the max amount of detail in the amazing graphic at the top. That means I might:

    * Move the Monkeybrain logo to the lower-left corner.
    * Move the “Pak, Coulton, …” author credits to the lower-right corner.
    * Drop the JoCo logo straight down the left side to the middle of the page, to the immediate left of the doll’s head.

Those changes might give me an ever-so-slightly clearer view of the tentacle and perhaps distract less from the beautiful face with the semi-sly look.

    Or not.

    Great job!
