I’m both thrilled and sad to report that the final issue of RONIN ISLAND hit stores today. Working on this book has been one of the great joys of my career, and I’m so grateful to line artist Giannis Milonogiannis, colorist Irma Kniivila, letterer Simon Bowland, cover colorist Michele Assarasakorn, all the variant cover artists including Ethan Young, and everyone at BOOM! who worked so hard to make the book so special, including our wonderful editors Eric Harburn, Amanda LaFranco, and Cameron Chittock.
RONIN ISLAND was originally supposed to be an eight issue maxi-series. But readers and retailers supported it so strongly that we were able to extend to a full twelve issues and give the story all the room it needed to breathe. Writing this book has been an exercise in simplicity and honesty for me — I’ve done my best every step of the way to hone in on the core emotional moments in every scene, and having collaborators with such tremendous sensitivity and heart has been an incredible blessing.

Amanda just tweeted the image above of Giannis Milonogiannis’s original character designs of our two main heroes with the note “I’ve been rooting for these two since the beginning.” I feel that sentiment in my bones, and thank everyone who’s been reading and supporting the book for making this all possible.
Ask your local comic shop to hold a copy of RONIN ISLAND #12 for you today.
